Answers to the most frequent questions about accidents, valuations, and coverage limits.
Third Party Only (TPO) is the minimum legal requirement; it covers damage you cause to other people’s vehicles or property, but not your own. Comprehensive covers everything: damage to third parties, plus damage to your own vehicle from fire, theft, or accidents, even if it was your fault.
Yes, for Comprehensive cover, a valuation is mandatory. It determines the current market value of the vehicle so you aren’t over-insured (paying too much premium) or under-insured (getting paid too little in a total loss). We can recommend approved valuers near you.
First, ensure everyone is safe. Do not admit liability at the scene. Take photos of the damage and the other car’s insurance sticker. Report the accident to the nearest Police Station to get a Police Abstract. Then, notify us immediately to start the claim process.
Standard motor policies usually exclude riots, strikes, and civil commotion. However, given the unpredictable nature of events, we highly recommend adding the PVT (Political Violence & Terrorism) extension for a small additional fee to ensure full protection during unrest.
This depends on your specific policy. “Loss of Use” (Courtesy Car) is usually an optional benefit that provides a replacement vehicle for a set number of days (e.g., 10 days) while yours is being repaired. Check your policy schedule to see if this is included or ask us to add it.
